JBF Petrochemicals commissions PTA plant in Mangalore, India

MANGALORE, INDIA: JBF Industries Ltd announced that its step subsidiary, JBF Petrochemicals Ltd has commissioned its purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant at Mangalore SEZ, Karnataka.
Production of PTA is a backward integration for JBF Industries Limited and its subsidiaries abroad. The plant, with a capacity of 1.25 million tonnes per annum, uses British Petroleum's (BP's) BP technology, known to be the most cost effective and highly environment friendly, company said.
This is the world's largest single reactor train PTA plant. In accordance to the initial run, the company plans to take routine checks and remove deficiencies, based on technical guidelines, for sustainable satisfactory technical performance. This new plant will increase the competitiveness of the company in the Polyester chain and is expected improve margins, added the company.
