Ineos Styrolution said that its Novodur Xspray grade has been selected by Samsung, for its new range of recently launched refrigerators and vacuum cleaners in Asia.
Samsung approached Ineos Styrolution for an eco-friendly grade that offers excellent paint-ability, ease of processing and superior metallic appearance from high luminance spray. The existing acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) grades available in the market require an additional primer treatment prior to the colour and clear coating process to improve the chemical resistance required for high luminance spray.
Ineos Styrolution’s newly developed Novodur Xspray is an ABS alloy that offers good chemical resistance and excellent paint adhesion that is required in high luminance spray painting to achieve the desired superior metallic appearance. The good chemical resistance also eliminates the need for the primer treatment process, hence resulting in eco-friendliness and better cost savings for the customer. Apart from refrigerators and vacuum cleaners, Novodur Xspray can also be used for other household applications requiring a metallic appearance, for instance, coffee machines, air conditioner housing and top cover of washing machines.
