6 things about nitrogen you should know

Nitrogen is one of the most significant elements in organic chemistry. It is an inert diatomic gas. Nitrogen name is derived from a Greek word, ‘nitron’ and ‘genes’ which means nitre forming.
It is an element with symbol N and atomic number 7. Nitrogen is the lightest member of group 15 of the periodic table, often called the pnictogens.
2. Uses of nitrogen?
    • Liquid nitrogen is manly used as a refrigerant.
    • The gas is mainly used as an inert atmosphere to reduce fire hazards in some aircraft fuel system.
    • It used in light bulbs as an alternative to argon gas.
    • It is used in manufacturing stainless steel.
    • Nitrogen in many applications is a good blanketing gas because of its inert properties.
    • It is used to protect flammable or explosive solids or liquids from contact with air.
3.Function of Nitrogen in human body
Nitrogen is a one of the major factor in the creation of proteins which are essential for the creation of genetic material in the human body. It is necessary to all forms of life. Our body needs nitrogen, to build proteins in our muscles, skin, blood, hair, nails and DNA. Humans consume nitrogen through consumption of plants or animals which has consumed nitrogen-rich vegetation.
