SNC-Lavalin bags revamp contract by Bagfas

MONTREAL, CANADA: SNC-Lavalin Group Inc said that it has recently been awarded a contract by Bagfas Bandirma Gubre Fabrikalari AS (Bagfas) for the revamp of an existing calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) plant located on the south coast of the Marmara Sea, Turkey.
The scope of work includes engineering, procurement, supervision and commissioning services to achieve the plant’s capacity performance of 2,000 metric tonnes per day (MTPD) for calcium ammonium nitrate and 1,550 MTPD for stabilised ammonium nitrate.
The services also incorporate review and improvement of processes and operations, including engineering of processes, equipment, control and automation. SNC-Lavalin will execute the project at the site and through its offices in Brussels, Belgium.
At the end of the contract, which is estimated to last approximately eight and a half months, the plant is expected to reach its design production capacity, estimated at 660,000 metric tonnes per annum of granular calcium ammonium nitrate.
“Bagfas has a strong presence in Turkey, and we look forward to working with them on enhancing the first and only integrated fertiliser production facility in the country. This new project is a great example of how our robust sustaining capital expertise can benefit clients by unlocking value at their existing plants,” said Jose Suarez, president, mining & metallurgy, SNC-Lavalin.
