Lanxess introduces new range of iron oxide pigments

DELHI, INDIA: Lanxess unveils a new range of iron oxide and chromium oxide pigments, featuring its trusted brands of pigments and biocides for colouring and protecting premium paints and coatings materials.
Synthetic iron oxide and chromium oxide pigments from Lanxess, marketed under the well-known brands Bayferrox and Colortherm display high colour strength, consistency, lightfastness, colour fastness, UV stability, weather-resistance and are characterised by their high quality and environmentally-friendly processing. These characteristics of Bayferrox and Colortherm pigments guarantee long-lasting colours in applications pertaining to the construction industry.
The company will introduce the innovative Bayferrox new red pigments range that is based on the development of an entirely new production process. The “Ningbo Process” is being used for the first time at Lanxess’ new production facility in Ningbo, China, which is the most modern plant of its kind in the world.
The company’s inorganic pigments represent a consistent combination of environmental responsibility, efficiency and quality. In line with these objectives and based on the company’s 90 years of experience, Lanxess has once again set a milestone in the production of synthetic iron oxide pigments. The newly developed “Ningbo Process” allows unique and high-quality red iron oxide pigments – “New Reds” – to be manufactured in an environmentally friendly way.
As an extension of its proven Bayferrox portfolio, Lanxess will be the only company in the world to cover the full spectrum of yellow-shaded reds for high-quality paints and coatings with its new red pigments. That is because, in addition to the colour space of classic Penniman and Copperas pigment types, the new red product range will also include pigments with higher red and yellow proportions than any other iron oxide red pigments currently commercially available. This achievement has been made possible by the innovative Ningbo Process technology.
“With our new red iron oxide plant in Ningbo, China, we are able to serve our customers in the Asia-Pacific region even better with sustainable products. Lanxess is the first manufacturer of iron oxide pigments to ensure sustainable production of bright yellowish red pigments with consistently high quality. With the new mixing and milling plant, we offer an expanded portfolio of pigments that features the New Red pigments alongside our proven inorganic colour pigments,” said Rafael Suchan, VP for the inorganic pigments business unit in APAC.
