The global bromo trifluoro propene (BTFP) market is projected to witness moderate growth owing to increasing application of BTFP in fire extinguishers, backed by its fire suppression properties and lower extinguishment concentration as compared to Halon. However, the leading supplier Skyrun Industrial is set to lose its market share owing to entry of other players offering competitively priced.
BTFP is considered as a replacement for bromo chloride fluro methane (Halon 1211) and bromo tri fluro methane (Halon 1311) due to the presence of bromine atom and carbon double bond, which promote tropospheric degradation and result in a short atmospheric lifetime. Several research companies are carrying out studies to identify the best replacement for Halon, and BTFP can become the best replacement for Halon, if it gets approved by regulatory bodies, globally.
