Global trends in styrenics polymers.
In the global market, the major trends supporting the styrenics market are digitization, energy resource conservation and mass customization. Integration of Internet Of Things in the medical market is another major trend in the styrenics market with the key market being the wearable devices. There is a rise in the usage of wearable devices among the aging population and fitness conscious people of this generation to monitor day to day activities of a person. Herein the data is used to monitor the overall health of people. Further, styrenics being a light weight material with more resistance to oil, sweat and chemicals gives a better feel to the skin. It is fast becoming a better material choice for wearable devices.
Automotive is yet another big trend for this industry. Styrenics offer light weight solutions and is the preferred choice as a material to replace metal. It is also very easy to colour the material and can be easily put to shape in moulding machines making it all the more user-friendly. Also, styrenics being a very flexible polymer has a wide range of applications right from a one-timeuse food packaging material to a durable good such as refrigerators that can last for decades together. This, when blended with other polymers can give a huge gamut of product applications with many degrees of flexibility to design products.
