Ingevity appoints new president for performance chemicals segment

NORTH CHARLESTON, US: Ingevity Corporation has appointed current senior vice president of strategy and business development, Michael Smith as its new executive VP and president for performance chemicals segment.

He will directly report to Michael Wilson, Ingevity’s president and CEO. This new role combines Smith’s current responsibilities in the areas of strategy and business development. He will succeed Edward Rose, who will be leaving the company.

Smith joined Ingevity in June 2016. Prior to joining the company, Smith spent 23 years with FMC Corporation, most recently as vice president and global business director for FMC’s health and nutrition business.

“This reorganisation is part of an effort to streamline our leadership team, flatten the organisation and reduce costs. Mike’s experience in managing transformation initiatives in the speciality chemicals sector and a variety of businesses, uniquely qualifies him for this role,” said Wilson.

“Ed’s contributions to the company have been significant His commitment, dedication and leadership have helped forge a successful and unique speciality chemicals business. On behalf of the board of directors, we’d like to extend to Ed our most sincere gratitude for his service and best wishes for the future,” added Wilson.
