The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals of the Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Government of Gujarat jointly hosted the 5th edition of ‘India Chem Gujarat 2017 – Speciality Chemicals: Way to go for Chemicals Industry’ in Gandhinagar from 21 to 22 September.
The two-day event aimed to showcase India’s capability in the chemical sector and & allied industry, providing opportunity to utilize the immense potential for more trade and investments in India. Ananth Kumar, the union minister for chemicals and fertilizers, while inaugurating the event called for realizing full potential of Dahej PCPIR by turning two million tonne petrochemical raw materials produced there annually into finished product in the region itself.
More than 150 exhibitors and 7000 business visitors were present at the event. They bought out winning strategies for building and strengthening the awareness of emerging new application of speciality chemicals sector & allied industry and highlight the application technologies to enhance productivity.
Highlighting the emerging need of talent for chemicals processing in the country, Kumar also said the Centre will open the country’s first Central Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology at Dahej.
