Biesterfeld Spezialchemie GmbH said that as part of its ongoing drive to develop market segment focus it is creating a new business unit for healthcare distribution. This move is a logical continuation of previous developments and will allow the distributor to effectively target this highly demanding market, the company said.
The new business unit will combine the pharmaceutical activities of Schutz & Co, acquired in 2016, and the business of the current pharmaceutical and medical devices segments. The unit will be headed by Andreas Lekebusch, who has a PhD in chemistry and has significantly shaped the strategic alignment and operational implementation of pharmaceutical and medical devices activities at Biesterfeld Spezialchemie for almost 20 years.
Biesterfeld collaborates with leading manufacturers in its extensive healthcare product portfolio. In addition to elastomers and adhesives for the manufacturing of medical devices, the distributor supplies high-purity silicones for coating syringes and cannulas. A wide range of pharmaceutical active ingredients from qualified partners and excipients for solid, liquid and topical products enables Biesterfeld to supply high-quality raw materials to the pharmaceutical industry.
