Fire at pharmaceutical godown in Pakistan; no injuries reported

KARACHI, PAKISTAN: A fire exploded in a chemicals (pharmaceutical) storage building near Denso Hall on M A Jinnah Road, Karachi (Pakistan) has been put out after a struggle of around two and a half hours.
Two firefighters were injured in the effort while authorities faced issues to refill water tenders owing to power outages.
All those present inside the godown were safely evacuated while installations in the surroundings were also evacuated to avoid losses. However, firefighters had to struggle with different issues caused by power outages and traffic jam.
Mayor of Karachi, Waseem Akhtar reached the site and stated that chemicals storages within the city were dangerous and admitted a lapse in handling the situation by different departments.
The fire department has declared the affected building unfit for the purpose.
