Fluor, Clean Energy sign MoU for gas power stations in US

IRVING, US: Fluor Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Clean Energy Future LLC, to deliver development support for the Trumbull and Oregon Energy Centers natural gas, combined-cycle stations in Ohio (US).
As part of the agreement, Fluor will provide initial permitting and development support services for the projects. After the projects, have received all permits and regulatory and financial approvals, Fluor will provide engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and commissioning services for both of the power stations.
Fluor will support permitting and project development over the next year with construction scheduled to begin in early 2018. The projects are currently planned to begin commercial operations in 2020.
The highly efficient natural gas facilities will use Siemens advanced technology and will be among the most energy efficient generating plants in the region. The 940-megawatt Trumbull Energy Center and 955-megawatt Oregon Energy Center will be located in the Ohio towns of Lordstown and Oregon, respectively. These projects will be constructed by members of the local building trades.
“We are honoured to be selected by Clean Energy Future for this new natural gas development. Fluor is a leader in the gas-fueled business demonstrated by the design and build of nearly 50,000 megawatts of gas-fueled power stations over the past 20 years,” said Chris Tye, president of Fluor’s power business line.
“These two new facilities will represent the fourth and fifth such combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) projects developed by Clean Energy Future in Ohio, and the sixth and seventh in the PJM interconnection region. Fluor will be working in partnership with our other team members including Siemens Energy, Siemens Financial Services and BNP Paribas,” added Bill Siderewicz, president of Clean Energy Future.
