Praxair to build new air separation plant at Samsung's Tangjeong site

Praxair Inc (PX) has signed a long-term agreement to build, own and operate an air separation plant that will supply 700 tonnes per day of nitrogen to Samsung’s display manufacturing complex in Tangjeong, South Korea.
This complex is the largest sixth-generation flexible organic light emitting diodes (OLED) panel plant in the world. Its capacity is increasing in 2017 in order to meet global market demand. OLEDs are used in a variety of products including televisions, mobile devices, digital cameras, virtual reality headsets and laptops.
This will be Praxair’s fourth air separation plant supporting the facility and it is expected to start up in 2018. This additional nitrogen will be used for cooling and purging applications in Samsung’s manufacturing process. Praxair has provided a reliable supply of nitrogen, oxygen, argon, helium and other gases to many of Samsung’s operations, including the Tangjeong LCD factory, for more than 25 years.

Kraiburg presents new thermoplastic elastomers for automotive applications

Kraiburg TPE, a leading global manufacturer of thermoplastic elastomers said that it will present a new series of thermoplastic elastomers, that were specially developed for excellent adhesion and UV resistance in two-component applications with ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber (EPDM).
The new compounds of the THERMOLAST K family are intended primarily for automotive applications such as EPDM window trim and sealing profiles with moulded TPE corner joints and end elements.
The automotive industry is the largest and fastest-growing market for thermoplastic elastomers (TPE). New applications exist for the segment of door and window seals, which require dimensionally stable corner joints and end elements. This has been achieved in the past with styrene-butadiene compounds (SBC) and crosslinked thermoplastic vulcanized (TPV) rubber.
The cost-effectiveness of TPV is limited, however, due to diverse factors in the manufacturing process, in particular, the window trim. The EPDM adhesion series from Kraiburg TPE offers a good alternative with added value.
The core requirements for corner joints and end elements of window trim profiles include excellent adhesion and weathering resistance, which are ensured by the long-term process stability of the TPE/rubber connection. It is also necessary to minimize the injection temperature of the TPE solutions in order to reduce the cooling and cycle times of the 2-component elements.
