HAMBURG, GERMANY: Biesterfeld Spezialchemie GmbH has assumed distribution rights for the Bio-gen Extracts portfolio in Europe, thereby expanding its product range for nutraceuticals and plant extracts for use in the healthcare and food supplement industries. The portfolio comprises various products for use in capsules, tablets, sugar-coated pills and sticks.
Biesterfeld Spezialchemie will market the high-quality products and latest product innovations by Bio-gen Extracts, such as the odourless garlic extract. This extract obtained through lipid extraction, called Garlixir, is especially suited to consumers who value the positive effects of the garlic bulb while also preferring an odour-free version.
With the new production processes and drying procedures, the Indian producer also offers solvent-free extracts such as lutein and zeaxanthin, which are marketed under the trade names Lute-gen and Zea-gen. The GMO-free lutein and zeaxanthin extracts are obtained from the flowers of the Tagetes Erecta, grown and harvested by local farmers in cooperation with Bio-gen Extracts. All products go through regular, strict controls with regard to the high quality requirements - from the cultivation of the plants all the way to product shipment.
"With Bio-gen Extracts, we have a strong partner with high standards of quality at our side. With their nutraceuticals and plant extracts, we can provide comprehensive service to the growing demand for functional ingredients as a result of changing consumer behaviour that we observe in the healthcare and food supplement market segments. We look forward to a successful cooperation," said Dr Andreas Lekebusch, market manager healthcare, Biesterfeld Spezialchemie.
"The targeted distribution of our products is one of our most crucial challenges. We searched for a partnership based on trust and a shared vision. Together with Biesterfeld Spezialchemie, we will continue to grow based on continuous innovation," added Saif Mehkri, director of Bio-gen Extracts.
