Future Mobility to push chemical boundaries

One of the major issues faced in urban cities is the concerns related to mobility. Getting from one place to another has become a tedious task considering the traffic congestion, air & noise pollution, vehicle safety, cost of fuel, most important human fatigue etc. Amidst all this chaos, one ray of hope is that future mobility and transportation will bring in more Automated, Connected, Electric, Shared (ACES) systems.
For instance, the use of Ola/Uber-like services, riding on bicycles, using electric vehicles, having an automated, driverless car, flying taxis could all become the norm, changing the dynamics of the mobility industry.
This sea of change will not only disrupt the automotive industry but also impact the entire eco system associated with the industry. This is the right time for the supplier industry such as automotive chemicals, lubricants and coatings industry, to start thinking about newer business and operational models.
Presently, the focus on electric vehicles and use of plastics for lightweight vehicles is already making chemical manufacturers give it a serious thought. Automakers such as Tesla, BMW, Nissan and Ather Energy in Bangalore are working towards making electric vehicles the new in thing. While automakers such as Volvo Cars have made public their plan to have at least 25 percent plastics made from recycled material, in their new launches from 2025. Moreover, Volvo has also urged auto industry suppliers to work closely with car makers to develop more sustainable components, especially with regards to containing more recycled plastics. Have a look at our ‘Insights’ as we take a detailed approach for ‘Mobility’ including market dynamics, real-time scenarios, challenges and in turn impact on chemical manufacturers.
